Alcohol and curse words in a new play with music

    Hi,

We are developing our 8th new show - SENTINELS and I need some advice.  Here is the elevator pitch:

We've all heard about the all male "secret society" at Yale.  But, what if there was an all female secret society that makes its home out of an abandoned dome room at a university in Milwaukee?  Since 1945, this group of brilliant, courageous college women have made it their goal to ensure women are at every table where important stuff happens. From their refuge overlooking the campus, they've been involved with such monumental events such as the first Black woman to star at the Met Opera, the election of the first female leader of a Muslim country, and the discovery of polio vaccine.  This is their story.  The Sentinels.

The show is about 90 minutes with no intermission. Each scene takes place in a different decade featuring a real life event and dramatizes how The Sentinels could have influenced history. We developed the show so that it can be performed by 6 actresses, 11, 16 or 21.  All of the characters are 22-26 years old.

There is alcohol consumption (champagne celebration and "rum and coca cola" during the 1945 scene.)  And, there are curse words in the 1968 and 1973 scene.

We have a note in the script that the director can make changes to these things if their "community" does not allow these two things.

    HERE is the question:

Are drinking alcohol and curse words in the script deal breakers?  Will you not choose this show because of that?   Should we write a "high school" version taking those things out?

Thanks for any thoughts you might have.
