I sent make up kits home with acting students for our upcoming unit on stage make up. The Mehron make up kits will be returned to the school for use with the theater shows. I know how to sanitize the brushes and sponges, but do you worry about germs passing onto the make up as they use it? Like, do they ...

Hi! It's $300-$500 per teaching artist *per session* not per student. So if there is a group of 15 students it's still $300-$500 per teaching artist. But if there are 3 teaching artists on the panel ... it's $900-$1500! I got an email from another teacher on EdTA reminding me that if I want an expert ...

Hi folks, I was excited to learn that the Tectonic Theater Project is offering Zoom Moment Work and student workshops for productions of The Laramie Project. However, I've learned that they charge $300-$500 per teaching artist per hour. While on the one hand I'm thrilled that teaching artists are valued ...

Hi BJ - I'd love to chat about being a guest in my Improv classes in September. My guess is that we will still be Zoom-ing then. I'm in Pasadena - athomas@sequoyahschool.org. Also i would love to watch a recording of the Beverly Hills High School Sophomore Drama Lab Improv Comedy Show - any chance ...

I hope you can watch the Bard Theater production of Mad Forest -- the last show is this Wednesday May 27 at 3pm est. MIND BLOWN. The technology is incredible -- they literally re-wrote Zoom code to be able to do it! You will not believe your eyes. So beautiful, gorgeous video, set, and sound design, ...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nINQjT7Zr9w From Phantom of The Opera at the Royal Albert Hall (2011), Cameron Mackintosh produced a unique, spectacular staging of the musical on a scale which had never been seen before. Inspired by the original staging by Hal Prince and Gillian Lynne, this lavish, ...

I need an app to exchange text messages, rehearsals times, and other info with my actors and parents. I tried Remind 101 but it doesn't allow students to respond back. What else works really well? Thanks!! ------------------------------ Arden Thomas Sequoyah High School Pasadena CA ---------- ...

This is an amazing idea! I'd never have thought of it. What are some of the shows people have taken to the Fringe? And how many kids and other adults go with you? ------------------------------ Arden Thomas Sequoyah High School Pasadena CA ------------------------------

Can someone please explain to me how to hang black curtains so that actors can't be seen entering and exiting on the UR and UL entrances at the corners of a cyc? Seems like they'd need to be hung in two layers so that if someone is coming through, the audience can't see through the opening behind the ...

I actually don't agree with this mom's comment about what she sees as the show's take on authority!! It might be that it's too dark, and that we should just do a concert of songs from the show. It is a show about trauma; maybe it can be traumatizing to young people who are learning to navigate their ...

Can you share some more thoughts about doing Spring Awakening at the high school level? I've read everything about SA on this forum, but I'm still not sure how to respond to a mother who is raising quite a ruckus on campus about our production, scheduled for April.  I have a core group of students ...

Has anyone done Spring Awakening with student musicians performing in the band? I'd like to get our students practicing right away and I'm wondering if we could borrow your score soon, as the rental doesn't start till two months before the performance date and the kids need to start practicing right ...

I think part of my actors' hesitation is that we are 10 girls and 3 boys and the play - though named Radium Girls - is largely about the men. The girls die off and the men take most of the roles, and even have the last word. This didn't sit well! I think it could be terrific from a theatrical standpoint ...

I chose Radium Girls for my play this year, and I have 13 actors. The six 9th and 10th graders like the show, but the seven Seniors don't like it at all! They just cannot get jazzed up about it. They have done Big Fish, Peter and the Starcatcher, AntigoneX, Twelfth Night, The Real Inspector Hound, and ...

I'm teaching a 5-week seminar class for high school seniors in Contemporary US Theater. I think we'll read one play each week, with the focus on plays that deal with contemporary issues through the lense of the family. Plays include: Disgraced by Ayad Akhtar, Water by the Spoonful by Quiara Alegría Hudes, ...
