    Hi, everyone!

I am on the search for a good TYA play!  I am not looking for a musical, but something for approximately 4 boys and 7 girls.  All suggestion are welcome!!

I will be the idiot who doesn't know what TYA means, but if I guess 'Theatre for Young Audiences' am I vaguely right?

If so, 'Wiley and the Hairy Man' by Zeder is a pretty awesome play.

Yep, TYA is "Theater for Young Audiences."

I always really love the scripts at Plays for Young Audiences.  https://playsforyoungaudiences.org/

Carolyn, roughly what running time are you searching for, and what age group will you be performing for?

    Cheers,
    Jonathan

Thanks, all!  I do love Wiley, but it was done recently in our community!  I will check out the sites everyone suggested!

    My thanks!

There are so many good scripts.  Just produced Steven Dietz's Still Life with Iris.  It is beautiful, but a tough build.  KY isn't too far away, I could help provide some of the harder bits.

Sad, but soooo good is David Saar's The Yellow Boat.

Both playwrights were willing to do a workshop and visit.  Dietz is in TX and Saar is in AZ.  Write a grant and think about bringing one in.

I produce children's theatre just about every year.  We are trying to grow an audience and a future drama club.  Figure if we groom them young, we will have more success when they are older.  What about if we did the same show in the year, split the costs on the set and costumes, and helped each other?  Jay County High School is on the OH border between Ft. Wayne and Richmond.

We have done "Richard Harding Bush or The Rococo Coco Bean" and the girls played many of the guy parts and had great fun creating unibrows and stubble.

Also "Dragon of the Winds" was a great success for us, and looking at "Beanie and the Bamboozling Book Machine" for next year.
