I'm looking for a large group musical number to be performed for 6th graders, grandparents, and possibly in a couple of chapel services. The cast is made up of my advanced juniors and seniors (14f, 7m.) I have one incredibly strong male, and a handful of pretty strong altos. I also have a couple great character actors and some physical comedians. Thanks for your help!

You can always go with basic crowd pleasers like any large group numbers from Grease, Hairspray or Footloose. Since considering a chapel service as well- you could check out Joseph and Godspell. Lots of large group numbers and even some good solo opportunities for your strong male lead.

What about something from "You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown"? It's got a couple cute song in it.

Sounds like Godspell is a perfect fit for your group.  All your kids can have parts, and you can play the religious angle up or down
depending on what you want to say.

Something from My Fair Lady would probably go over well. If you can get the kids to play the spoons I'd recommend "I'm Getting Married In The Morning".

"I Got Rhythm" from Crazy for You. Or maybe a Broadway Review type number.

Maybe consider: "We Tell the Story" from Once On This Island or "A Little More Homework" and/or "Brand New You" from 13.

"Morning Glow" from Pippin -- starts as a limited cast piece, can grow into a huge ensemble.  We did the full cast of thirty by the end, and it would tap into the same vein as Godspell.

I think "Just One Person" from Snoopy might work as well. It has the "add on" solo take, as well as an inspirational message and melody. Just my two cents worth. Best wishes with it!

If your audience is composed of primarily grandparents you could try something from an old classic like The Music Man.  "Ya Got Trouble" is a great group number for a strong guy as well as some comedic actors.
