What are your favorite video resources for your beginning theatre students - i.e. students who are taking drama for a fine arts credit but might not be active in the department and productions.

I always show Cyrano de Bergerac starring Kevin Kline in my Theatre 1 class. It's a great intro into classical language and has such wonderful acting in Kevin Kline. I got the dvd through Barnes and Noble years ago and I know it's on BroadwayHD right now as well. The students are all invested in the story before the end of the first act.

    Shira,
How do prepare the class for Cyrano, if you don't mind sharing? I tried showing it my 8th graders a couple of years ago and were decidedly not invested. It was, however, a pretty contrary class. I have the DVD and would love to try again.

    thanks!
