    Hello fellow theatre educators,

I would like to do a night of readings for my school's Theatre for Social Change program. My idea is to a reading of works by BIPOC playwrights and/or female playwrights or maybe just choose one play. Does anyone have any suggestions of work I can look into? The more suggestions the merrier!

    Respectfully,

The works that Idris Goodwin have shared are so strong. They have been great generators in my classes.

Fires in the Mirror" Crown Heights, Brooklyn and Other Identifies by Anna Deavere Smith.  It's about the Crown Heights riots, August, 1991 between Sfrican-Americans, Jews, and the police.

I was actually going to make the same recommendation. I LOVE Idris Goodwin's plays and have used them in my classes as well as in performance. The students really enjoy working with them and talking about them. Here's a direct link. Just scroll down to the Free Plays portion for links to each of the five.  http://www.idrisgoodwin.com/catalog
