  • 1.  Singin' in the Rain

    We just finished a successful run of Singin' in the Rain and made it rain on stage! I had seen it done over fifteen years ago by a traveling show and decided to reverse engineer it for myself. It was much easier than I thought it would be and I am willing to share my plans with others who might want to try it. I had to do a demonstration for the principal and person in charge of the theater to reassure them I wasn't going to soak the stage or any of the electrical boxes, but after the demonstration, I got permission and it worked at the end of Act 1 & 2 each of the five shows. Really lent itself to the wow factor of this show. I am finding out after 35 years of directing that these technical challenges are bringing new energy and enthusiasm to some of the older shoes. I also found the joy of 3D printing props and made this vintage microphone, as well as some souvenirs to sell at the performances (See attached).
