Last year someone inquired about good comedies.  Someone mentioned a play where some of the characters are dresses up as birds.  Does anyone recall the name of that play?  Thanks.

My guess is you're talking about The Birds.

It's a classic comedy by Aristophanes - lots of fun, and a great way to showcase a costumer.

I did a modern adaptation of it when I taught Greek comedy - it's published by Playscripts. A few people around here have produced it.

I recently adapted The Frogs as well, coming soon from Dramatic Publishing.

I do remember mentioning The Birds last year. Specifically Walter Kerr's translation.

    Hi Richard,

The play is titled The Birds by Don Zolidis. It can be purchased at playscripts.com. I directed it last November with great success. The students really enjoyed the challenge, the script allows for many roles (which many of Zolidis's plays do - I am always grateful for that), and it hits on some thoughtful commentary about humanity. I highly recommend it! Costuming and make are fun, too!
