    Can anyone suggest ideas for full length dramatic script that has strong female character parts and a great message . High school age. Thanks!

    Eurydice, by Sarah Ruhl. Yes, it is some pretty heavy lifting, acting-wise, but if you have the kids for it, it is an amazing play and message.

    We are currently in production for The Ash Girl by Timberlake Wertenbaker.  It is a modern retelling of Cinderella in which "Ashie" must face the seven deadly sins.  Great messages about the need to find yourself, the battle with sadness, body image.  My students (at an all girls school) adore the script.  It's available from Dramatic Publishing.

    Anne Frank & Me by Cherie Bennett

    It's historically relevant, can tie into your school's history/civics classes (builds an audience) the majority of main characters are female, the exposition is all set in modern times and even incorporates hip-hop or similar modern pop dance.

    It's been highly successful in community, repertory and school theatre; in fact we just did that as our first show this year and it really positively impacted our audience and students.

    I just directed the Jon Jory adaptation of Pride and Prejudice. It went over very well! Lots of strong female characters. The adaptation really served the novel while remaining theatrically viable for an audience. Lots of creative possibilities. Few set needs.     I'm in production for Jon Jory's Pride & Prejudice as well. :) It's got alot of interest on campus. If you're ok with a slightly darker script The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr. Hyde by Noah Smith sold out on our campus several years ago. I approached it based on the idea that evil is more attractive and easier to be than good. I'd also recommend the Diary of anne frank adapted by Wensy Kessleman. The language is more contemporary and it only has a cast of 10.
