Does anybody know if The Play That Goes Wrong is available for licensing, and if so from whom?

    Hello!

I've been looking for the rights, but haven't found them. I recently saw a video of a section of the play and immediately wanted to do it.

Check their hilarious  interpretation of Peter Pan. It was broadcast on BBC a while ago. I think I found it on their webpage.

They closed their performances at the Lyceum theatre in NYC (Be More Chill will be taking over that space.) . But The Play That Goes Wrong is moving down the street and will re-open at New World Stages.  There is also a touring production - so I suspect that it may be a while yet until it is available for amateur/school production licensing.

I don't believe the play is available for licensing. I do know there is a one-act written in a similar style (The One-Act Play that Goes Poorly) that I've recently seen circulating. The original producer of The Play that Goes Wrong is https://mischieftheatre.co.uk/

You can purchase a copy of the script from Samuel French, but it does not appear that they are currently offering license agreements for this play.

Given that it's running in New York and on its first national tour, it's highly unlikely it will be available for a while.

No--while it's available for sale as a trade paperback, that's not the
same as being available in acting editions or for licensing.

    Cheers,
    Jonathan

Sorry about that, Mr. Dorf. That's what I get for posting so early in the morning after a quick Google search while not fully awake! :)

It is not available at the moment.

It’s not. However, Don Zoldis has a new show that is similar and still high school friendly (not nearly the tech requirements of the original). It’s called “The One Act Play that Goes Poorly."

“Even when the dark comes crashing through-
when you need a friend to carry you-
when you’re broken on the ground-
    you will be found.”
    -“Dear Evan Hansen."

Jodi is correct, but I believe Mr. Zolidis said that one was a commissioned work, and it will not be available for licensing until the people that requested it have done it.

*Before sending I was thorough this time. Below is what was sent out by Mr. Zolidis regarding the play Jodi mentioned:

"Brand-New One Act: This play was a commissioned show for a middle school, so it is available for performance AFTER MAY 4THIt cannot be performed prior to that, but it would make a terrific end of year play for middle and high school groups.

The One-Act Play That Goes Poorly (cast of 15+, gender flexible)
    Royalty: $50 per performance

Perhaps choosing an unauthorized adaptation of Ocean's Eleven for the one-act play competition was a bad idea. The actors don't know their lines, the set isn't ready, the light op has a grudge against one of the actors, the lead is on crutches, and one actor is so terrified of being on stage she can barely make noise, but the show must go on. Even if it's a nightmare. A wild, silly, large cast comedy about a heist going terribly, terribly wrong."

The tech scares me for The Play that Goes Wrong.  I sat there and watched the first act thinking "this will be awesome for my kids when it's available."  And then the set started...well, going wrong and I changed my mind!  I'm going to stick to Play On! for now.
