    Job Description:

    Episcopal is seeking a theatre teacher and director primarily for middle school students grades 6-8 with some responsibilities in the high school. This person would teach middle school drama classes, organize and direct a middle school theatre production, run middle school drama club, prepare for junior thespian events, and collaborate with other fine arts teachers on productions and performance opportunities.

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's or graduate degree from an accredited educational institution
    • Experience in theatre directing
    • Teaching experience at the middle school level

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    • Knowledge and experience directing theatre productions, running production meetings and teaching classes in acting and directing
    • Knowledge of current educational research, especially in the field of theatre education
    • Ability to create, organize and implement lesson plans for maximum effectiveness.
    • Ability to assess and analyze the levels of student achievement effectively and prescribe actions for improvement.
    • Ability to maintain appropriate student supervision so that students have a safe and orderly learning environment.
    • Solid oral and written communication skills when contacting/interacting with students, parents and colleagues.
    • Ability to be an effective academic advisor

    Job Description:

    Episcopal School of Jacksonville is seeking a full time assistant technical theatre director and set designer to begin in the 2018-2019 school year. This person would develop and grow a curricular technical theatre program at the middle and high school level. Additionally, this person must be a set designer with proficiency in design and construction drawings, scene shop supervisory experience, and an understanding of production management in order to assist in the many events that happen in the school's theatre building.     Qualifications: A minimum of a Bachelor's degree is a must, preferably in technical theatre, theatrical design, or arts management.  A portfolio of past set designs will be requested from the candidates.

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    • Set Design experience and creation of construction drawings
    • Shop tech experience and working knowledge of a fly system
    • Supervision experience of younger student technicians
    • Ability to create, organize and implement lesson plans for middle and high school technical theatre classes
    • Prepare student technicians for submissions to technical theatre events at festivals and for technical theatre college portfolios
    • Model appropriate safety practices to students and maintain appropriate student supervision so that students have a safe and orderly learning environment. 
    • Solid oral and written communication skills when contacting/interacting with students, parents and colleagues.
