    Hey- has anyone done the stage version of "Sound of Music"?    Concord is saying it only has 4 male roles (and 2 make children).  I haven't gotten the perusal yet, but... could that be possible?  Can it really be done with 4 males?!  
    Someone please save me time and let me know how this works.  I remember the stage version being pretty different than the movie- but I am trying to figure out who the 4 men would be. THANKS!

    "Sounds" like they are referring to the main roles only: Captain VT, Max, Rolf, & Franz (the butler). Beyond the male children, you've also got Herr Zeller, the Baron & Admiral, not to mention a group of Nazis! I really like the stage version. I especially love the two numbers with Elsa & Max.     Hi Michael,
    I actually did the show this summer.  There are a bit more than 4.  There is Captain Von Trapp, Max Detweiler, Rolf, Franz the Butler, Herr Zeller, Admiral Von Schreiber, Baron Elberfeld (party scene), and the two boys, with various Nazi's at the end.  Hope this helps!

    i didn't think I would like the stage version of it, but did it anyway and actually had a great time with it.  You need the captain, Maxx, Rolf  are the main roles.....plus the children who are males.  We were able to use two fresh boys for the male children.  There are lesser male roles also.  The butler(a closet Nazi) and a few others in cameo roles.  Don't forget the "ballroom scene" either.  I think we did it with about 8 males.....and got creative where we incorporated them.  Def not a huge male cast---but then again most musicals are heavy on the males...so it was nice to have more females to feature.  Ended up being a great production.  Let me know if you have anymore questions.
