I am searching for our next musical and would like to do a one-act.  Can you post your favorite one-act musicals -- I need suggestions.  We have already done Spelling Bee, 1776, Anne of Green Gables, Dear Edwina...help!

    Thank you!

I highly recommend ISLAND SONG by Carner and Gregor. We did it last year and it is without a doubt one of my students favorite musicals -- even so far that they used it on their graduation caps. The material is about 20-somethings, but the shows themes speak heavily to young performers. It is a very flexible show with contemporary music - the soundtrack has tracks from Jeremy Jordan and Natalie Weiss and Kimiko Glenn (which meant my kiddos listened to it on repeat for the entire year). The cast can be as small as 5 and up to 14 or so I think? The creators were also very considerate to the needs of high school programs and have an edited version of the show available, so don't be put off by the occasional questionable language in the soundtrack, the high school edits allow for as cleaned up a version as needed for your area.  You can find the soundtrack on Spotify and Soundcloud, or here: Island Song - Carner & Gregor
