I have an awesome system built by a company called Vidir. It moves up our wall going about 16 feet up and is 20 feet wide, holding seven racks of costumes. It comes out from the wall 7 feet. If you go on their website they probably have a video to show it (Brown County High School in Nashville, Indiana). You touch a button and the nearly silent mechanism rolls slowly down one rack at a time, and we can hkeep it organized, color coordinated, and my students and I love it.

Subject: Costume Storage Configuration
Our theatre space is just completing a renovation and some new construction for storage space. I have a place for costume storage but it is really tall. Are there resources for motorized racks like maybe for a drycleaner or something? Maybe just a multi level rack with accessibility for a movable ladder? Might anyone have advice on how best to configure the space, or a company that specializes in this? I'm also looking for advice on suppliers for wardrobe racks and such to properly equip the room. I'd love to hear your ideas.
