I have a powerpoint/presentation that I do on Friday the 13th (rotates of course) that is all about the superstitions in theatre. (Break a leg, whistling, Scottish play, haunted theatres, using real money). I would be happy to share.
On thing that I tried last year with one grade that I'm going to do again this year with all grades is a fun one-day Halloween costuming activity. It is a take off of a larger/better (hahaha) lesson you can do with costuming. Kids are put in groups. As a team they select one person to be the model. Each team gets the same supplies (butcher paper, wrapping paper, newspaper...something like that, a pair of scissors and a roll of masking tape). They have 30 minutes to design and create a costume on the model. They also have to select an appropriate song to match the costume. Then the last fifteen minutes is a runway show. This year I am going to make it a competition. I will take pics and have the teachers vote and the winning groups from each class will get a little prize.
It was lots of fun last year. One team made a Groot costume and one made a Unicorn...those were my favorites.

Subject: Halloween fun
I'm wondering if anyone has a fun one day activity/movie/article on theatre ghosts? I thought it would be fun to take a break from our scene work this Friday and talk about theatre myths and legends. Maybe something on the curse of "The Scottish Play" or just any other theatre ghost story. Does anyone have any links to great videos on that? An article?
Any ideas are appreciated :)!
