    Hello everyone:

I am currently contemplating taking my students on an international trip. I know that a certain number of free trips are typically worked into the price. I am wondering what other people do with those free trips. Obviously one is for the director. But what do you do with the rest? Do you take your significant other as a chaperone? Offer them to other teachers? Give them to students on a scholarship base? Take your own kids?

Just wondering what other people actually do.

    Thanks,

I either would use them for a chaperone or divide the amount among the parents since them sometimes pay more.

@John makes a good point that parents often have to pay more out of pocket for their kids to go, so offering a couple of free spots is a nice way to lower costs for families. I've also used the extra spots for chaperones - it helps ensure you have enough supervised adults and is a nice perk for teachers assisting.
