  • 1.  Election of 1800 Curse Word Replacement

My middle school will be performing the "Election of 1800" from Hamilton.. I'm replacing the lyrics "Shat the bed" with "wet the bed," and "grab a beer with him" to "grab a drink with him." My problem is "I'll be damned." I don't want to stay "I'll be danged" or "I'll be darned" because I think it sounds too southern. I need a replacement word or phrase that probably has the same about of syllables. It just needs to sound good. Any suggestions?

Are the rights to Hamilton available? Even performing one number like that needs permission, especially if there are choreography or costumes.Cabaret type events can be really problematic because they don't follow copyright rules.

And...if the rights are available then you must ask permission to change the lyrics.

I'd use "I'll be BLASTED."  It gives the emotion.

Excellent advice to obtain permission. Having done that, you might consider using the lyric "I'll be hanged".
