Does anyone have a recommendation for a good one act drama with minimal set?  I work at a private Christian school, so it has to be conservative in content.  Thanks SO much!

Look into "At the Bottom of Lake Missoula" by Ed Monk.

We just took it to competition in November and did really well.  All you would need is acting blocks, and some flats (we made ours with PVC pipe and fabric).

Really beautiful script...has a few mild swear words, but also has a fairly strong religious angle.

I second "At the Bottom of Lake Missoula". We did it last year, and we had a great experience. Kids loved it.

I third "Bottom of Lake Missoula". Such a good script.  Another script that is really good is called "Voices in Conflict". The only pieces I needed for it were a desk, chair, and wheelchair. Everything else was done with lighting.

Good choices so far. Here's a couple more:

'Everything I Learned in Life I Learned from doing a bad school play' or something similarly worded. Very, very funny and possible to do with very minimal set.

'hearts desire' by Caryl Churchill is a manic, surreal exploration of what happens when imagination takes over when you're waiting for something. We did it with a table, a couple of chairs, and a cheaply made person-sized cabinet. Buckets of fun, quite challenging.

The first one has a potential for quite a sizable cast, the second needs maybe a half dozen to 12.

    Shuddersome:Tales of Poe

It's three to five Poe stories worked together--depending on the version you do.  We used stage cubes and lighting.  Really creepy and cool--great for ensemble and lead roles

This 34-page script is for Theatre people who can enjoy a laugh at their own expense.
