  • 1.  Best lighting programs?

    Hi all,

    I have a student who is interested in studying lighting design - I know of two good programs, but I am sure there are many more. Hive mind suggestions?

    University of Cincinnati. Their College Conservatory of Music has a great undergrad and MFA lighting program.

    I have had wonderful success with sending students to Suny Purchase, as they are taught by pros and go straight into the business. Also strong group at Carnegie Mellon, North Carolina School for the Arts,

    I also recommend that your student study some architectural lighting if they are interested in a career as a lighting designer - increases one's marketability.
