    ... in your set designs???

I'm talking things like plastic bottles or plastic paint tarps or anything else cool like that?

I'm interested in directing Seussical next year at school, and I recently bought four LED instruments that allow for lots of color.  I'm wondering if I can build the show relatively cheaply by using materials people might throw away.  I want to get as much as I can out of using the LEDs with materials that will show off the colors.

Let me know if you've done anything like this.

Not sure how this would work for Suessical, but this past year I used about thirty old car, tractor, and semi tires stacked in different configurations for "10 Ways to Survive the Zombie Apocalypse" that worked well. Since people have to pay to discard old tires in my community - I had more offers than I could possibly use!

LWe used almost ALL recycled materials for our production of The Little Mermaid, Jr last year. Lots of plastic bottles combined with old Christmas lights for a curtain, flowers and coral from plastic bottles, used plastic table cloths for seaweed, paper mache from old magazines and newspapers stuffed with clothing from Lost and Found that was never claimed, etc!!

I used the plastic rings that hold 6 packs of sodas together (probably harder to find now) to make screens that we hung in sections across the stage.  No one in the audience could figure out what they were and they looked wonderful.  The inventive designer from Peter and the Starcatcher made patterns on the false proscenium with coffee cup lids, forks, spoons and other found objects.  Have fun with it!

Peter and the Starcatcher on Broadway did this exclusively.  They used old CD.s brilliantly... and they would reflect light.... See if you can find some photos of their sets online
