Dear Friends and Colleagues,
I’m writing with an update on chapter tools in EdTA’s new membership system, Nimble AMS. We’ve made significant progress since the last update at Leadership Summit, so please take a moment to learn what’s changed and complete the action item at the end of this email.
Nimble AMS background
For those in new leadership roles or who want a refresher:
Last December, EdTA launched Nimble AMS, a Salesforce-based system, to replace a legacy membership system the organization had outgrown. The project began in July 2019, with target of launching Nimble and integrating it with our other key software (e.g., OpenWater used for Thespys®) in September 2020.
Unfortunately, problems at Nimble — especially staff attrition — delayed the system go-live and delivery of chapter tools. The system went live with about 80% of expected functionality in place, and progress on the remaining 20% has been much slower than we’d like: In addition to delaying chapter tools, it affected user experience during the spring induction rush.
While the process hasn’t been smooth, we’re confident that a Salesforce-based system was the right choice for EdTA and we’re beginning to see the benefits of this decision.
The good news for you: The chapter portal is finally close to launch. Testing is scheduled in December. Data/reporting access and event registration tools) should be available to chapter leaders over the winter. Event registration is being tested as well.
Event Registration Pilot
Five chapters (KY, PA, IL, MN, LA) are participating in a pilot to test event registration capabilities within Nimble. Goals:
- Design a standard, replicable process available for small/medium event registration.
- Understand the EdTA staff resources necessary to support chapters managing events in Nimble.
- Assess questions and challenges associated with the system and design training materials and resources to support self-sufficient management of the tools on a go-forward basis.
To date, KY and PA have delivered successful events. We are in the process of assessing and learning from these two events. Illinois successfully set up registration before cancelling its event. MN and LA have just gone live with registration.
We look forward to making these tools available to you soon. Please reach out with questions or concerns. And please share your technology successes so we can all learn from each other.
Best,
Brian
