(Now if that didn't bring a song lyric to your lips, I have shoes older than you!) Another highly successful Alabama Thespian Festival is in the books. 1,000 Thespians and their leaders gathered in Birmingham to celebrate theatre. I was fortunate to join them, adjudicating IEs and Scholarships. You won't find more talented students anywhere! Main stage shows like Zombie Prom, Beowulf, and Laundry and Bourbon showcased such diverse talent. And while Alabama Thespians are quick to share their talent, they are even quicker to share their southern hospitality. (I may not eat for a week.) They were also not shy when it came to sharing what they have with others. Minute to Give It raised $542.04 for Send a Troupe, exceeding last year's contribution.
Traveling with me was Emma Adams, ITO extraordinaire. It is always a pleasure to watch her work, teaching workshops and pitching in with the STO to make their Festival happen.
And I am never happier than when talking about EdTA and the opportunities available to Thespians and teachers. Hats off to Troy Taylor and his wonderful Chapter Board who worked so tirelessly to make this weekend happen in a big way!
Alabama...it was indeed a pleasure to "come home to you!"
