Last week, I had the honor of attending the Kentucky Thespian Festival in Richmond, KY, and I'll say I was amazed by this marvelous state. Going into the event, I (as anyone else who hasn't visited Kentucky might expect) thought of fried chicken and endless country side, but I was quickly blown away with not only how beautiful the state itself was, but also how welcoming and kind it's Thespians were.
After landing Thursday afternoon, I got to meet all the wonderful STOs with a fun evening of relaxing mixed with a little work here and there. It was a wonderful evening to prepare me for the weekend ahead.
Friday morning began with a spring, and we got to work. It seemed as though time began to speed by: I taught workshops, watched marvelous shows, and even got a glimpse at a few IEs from some extremely talented Kentucky Thespians. At both my leadership and NAPS workshop, I had the opportunity to meet an abundance of student leaders from the state, and we all had a little fun with Scooby-Doo while getting to make our own music! The end of Friday came along, and I hit repeat as I woke up early Saturday to prep for the day ahead of us. I saw more hysterical and beautiful shows and helped plan closing ceremonies which became bittersweet as soon as it hit me.
This year's festival, appropriately titled "Theatre Saves," struck a chord in my heart that I will never forget. Theatre has been the cornerstone for all of our lives, and I couldn't have been more grateful to have been able to share this weekend with each and every delegate in attendance.
Kentucky, I hope to see more of you in the future! Au revoir.
