I'm directing a show for which I will be absent for the first week after I meet the cast. I have a capable student assistant director who will take charge for me, and I will have about 5 weeks of rehearsal when I return. Can anyone offer suggestions for the kinds of activities/exercises that a student assistant director could conduct so that the first week is not lost? The show is Best of Enemies, about an unlikely alliance that develops between a woman civil rights worker and a klansman. There are only 4 characters in the play and about 15 different locations in about 35 short scenes. I will do the blocking (what little there might be) when I return. Thanks for your input.
