I saw a lot of interest recently in original scripts so thought I would share one that I just directed with my high school students - it's called The Red Knight. My adult daughter wrote it for my students and they loved it.
    • 26 roles with opportunities for doubling (2 roles for kids)
    • one of the educational objectives was lots of fight choreography - 7 distinct scenes involve stage combat and the lead is in all of them
    • focuses heavily on the two male leads (can be played by female, non-binary students) so it's a good show if you have strong boys, but they would also be fun and interesting roles for girls to play
    • queer themes, a quest story with the two male leads who slowly realize that they want to spend the rest of their (immortal) lives together, two female characters are in a relationship
    • fairy tale-esque, we did a medieval fantasy setting because it includes King Arthur but it's not tied to a specific time in history
You may perform this play for free in exchange for letting us know when and where it's performed.
The play must be performed as written unless changes are approved by the playwright ahead of time.
