Silly question, I know, but what are people packing? I've never been to a National Conference, so I don't really know what I need. I assume some movement clothes, but do we also need nicer clothes for other events?

    Hi!

Definitely not a silly question. Best way to answer would be to pack comfortable SHOES (i.e. sneakers)! You will be walking a lot between the convention center and getting to/from shows.

As for clothing, you do not need anything "fancy", unless you are planning on attending the Broadway Back To School event on Sunday. Keep in mind that the weather here is supposed to be in the 60's and 70's, so you may want to pack a light jacket for the evenings...and convention centers are notoriously FREEZING!

If you are taking a movement workshop (may i recommend the "12-Step Program"...wink wink) be sure you have clothes that you can freely move in. Other than that, most people wear comfortable clothes. This is definitely NOT a formal-wear conference.

I hope this helps a little.

It varies pretty widely depending on what you are doing throughout the day, but I think it's helpful to look back on photos of previous year's events to get a real life idea of what people typically wear. For example, the albums on the EdTA Facebook page:

When attending a National Conference, it's a good idea to pack a variety of clothing options to cover different occasions. Generally, comfortable and casual attire is suitable for most conference sessions and activities. This could include jeans, khakis, t-shirts, and comfortable shoes for the day. However, it's also a good idea to pack some slightly dressier outfits for special events such as networking dinners, award ceremonies, or formal receptions that may be part of the conference schedule. In those instances, business casual or semi-formal attire would be appropriate. It's always a good idea to check the conference agenda or guidelines for any specific dress code recommendations to ensure you're prepared for all the different events and activities.
