Hello, all!
For those of you out there who've done Mary Poppins, Jr., would you please offer your advice? I am scrolling through the past forum posts…
Background info:
New-ish theatre program- this will be our second spring musical- next April of '24.
Have an awesome tech director- who's willing to help in creating magic and will have a class for the second semester to help us! My tech students will go to him during our class and I will be able to focus on those performing. (I am SO grateful for this! Now each group can have more individualized experiences 😊) We will also hold after school rehearsals.
We have a lovely cafetorium that comes with its own unique challenges, but it's ours and we are able to use the space as we see fit.
Very minimal budget- Am planning on fundraising.
We've got a ton of new students and parents coming into the program. A handful or more of parents who'd like to help. 😊
My questions/ advice I'm seeking from you:
What should I begin tackling this summer?Normal prop and costume spread sheets…
What props were most challenging to find/build? Costumes? Technical magic that occurred?
Choreography? I've got a handful of strong dancers so I would like to feature them… What did you do? Some adapted original choreo?
Parents: I've never had this type of help- what should I delegate? Should I ask a parent to be the volunteer contact for me, so they can filter through requests?
I welcome all your thoughts and suggestions. I am not afraid of some work and these students coming in are hungry- I am very excited and thankful to be experiencing this!
Thank you and happy summer!
