As we kick off National Arts in Education Week, I'm excited to share a fantastic opportunity for all of us to step up and advocate for the arts. On Tuesday, September 10, at 7 p.m. ET, join us for the webinar "Empowering Teachers to Advocate for Federal and State Arts Education Policy" hosted by EdTA and the Arts Education Alliance.

This isn't just another webinar-it's a chance for us, as arts educators, to learn how to make sure our voices are heard loud and clear at both the federal and state levels. We'll dive into practical actions we can take right now to support arts education funding, push for legislation that protects arts access, and discuss the importance of the National Core Arts Standards.

Advocating for arts education might feel overwhelming at times, but remember, we're all in this together. We all know arts education doesn't just teach creativity; it builds critical thinkers and future leaders. The more we unite, the bigger impact we can make.

Can't wait to see you there!

Last week, I had the pleasure of joining our amazing partners at the National Art Education Association, National Association for Media Arts Education, National Association for Music Education, and National Dance Education Organization to kick off Arts in Education Week with a joint webinar.

We dove into some exciting discussions, not just about our goals moving forward but also the key policies impacting theatre educators today. Here's a quick recap:

    • Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA): We're working to ensure all five arts disciplines-dance, media arts, music, theatre, and visual arts-are fully recognized in federal education policies.
    • Funding Advocacy: We're actively fighting to protect critical federal funding for arts education, especially with potential budget cuts on the horizon.
    • Legislative Support: We're backing key bills like the Arts Education for All Act, aimed at improving access and equity in arts education.

Be sure to catch the full recap and webinar replay here
