  • 1.  Hat Making Project / Lesson

    Hi everyone!

A few years back in one of the Teaching Drama or Dramatics Magazine issues, there was a project/lesson that did hat making with specific tie in to math.  One of the downfalls of the amazing about of resources around is there is so much content that I can't find it anywhere in my searching.  I've searched through Dramatics online and googled but can't find it.

Anyone have an idea where I could find this?

    Hi Joel

That may have been me. In spring of 23, the Millinery class had an assignment where they each had to create a hat from a "fascinator" that was as high and big as possible while being as light as possible. They requested the help from my Structural Design class to calculate the ratio between the visual volume of the hat and the weight of the hat. The result of the ratio was one part of the grade.

I posted about it somewhere, but, like you, I now can't find it. Let me know if you want to be put in touch with the costume professor who led the assignment.

    Thanks!
