Our friends at the Music Theatre Educators Alliance have invited any EdTA member to join a free webinar as a part of their focus group series "Embracing Student Inclusion". "Join MTEA on Monday, August 8th from 2:00-3:30pm EST for the first of our Focus Group Series called "Embracing Student Inclusion", brought to you by the DEI Committee of MTEA. These events aim to create an accessible online open space (Zoom seminar) for MT educators to listen to and learn from students/alums from underrepresented communities and then reflect on their own pedagogy and curriculum. First up, we will hear from Mark Mendez Muñoz (they/he), Shayla Brown (she/her), Ben Faulknor (he/him), and Q Lim (she/her).
You will be introduced to the current DEI Committee, go through our Community Agreements, and then hear from each of our panelists about their unique experiences navigating their university experiences. This will be an opportunity to hear from our guests and make the necessary changes in our programs or facilities that will serve them better. Our goal is to empower all theatre educators to create the most equitable and inclusive learning environments in and out of the classroom so that these students can hold that space for themselves in the world. MTEA hopes EdTA members can join on Monday, August 8th from 2:00-3:30 pm EST! This event is FREE for all! You do not have to be a member of MTEA to participate."
