  • 1.  Contemporary monologues for college audition

    Hello everyone!

I have a student who is applyng to acting schools in the UK and maybe the US. This student feels comfortable with male roles or roles which the gender does not matter. He is looking for a contemporary monologue to apply for college. What are people using nowadays for auditions? Can anyone provide some suggestions, please? I know he doesn't want comedy... but if you know of a good one, and it's comedy, please share anyway! ;)

    Thank you!

I'm not sure what length he is looking for, but it you want something contemporary, there is a good opening monologue in Sniper by Bonnie Culver--about 5 - 10 minutes. It is told through the eyes of a school shooter. Also, Monsters is a collection of bizarre contemporary monologues by Chris Bullard. They run about 20 minutes each.
