  • 1.  Comedy play that is fun to do

    Posted 24 days ago

Looking for a play to do in the fall.  A comedy for high school that has between 10-15 parts, mostly for girls with 1 or 2 character male parts.  Already done Clue, 39 Steps, Puffs, Almost Maine and many Don Zolidis plays.  Looking for something very funny, small set or set pieces and fun for students to do.  Any suggestions?

Following. I love to find solid, smart comedies. My contribution is Kate Hamill's Sense and Sensibility. So much fun, but I think you need at least 3-4 guys.

I would add, Pride and Prejudice, adaptation by Kate Hamill. We are doing it in the Fall and I'm very excited.

One of my personal favorites is Alice@Wonderland, by Jonathan Yukich.  There are lots of great roles and the kids love it!

There are great suggestions here. "Rogues' Gallery" in particular may be a good fit. It's very flexible: https://school-theatre.com/f/10-great-comedic-plays-for-schools

    Hi Rebecca,

I will never be entirely comfortable tooting my own horn, but I think you should take a look at my play, The Wizard Delivers (and Pinky Stays the Course). Cast of nine but with room for extras, some flexibility gender-wise in casting, and it's definitely a comedy. I'm a published/produced playwright and a member of the Dramatists Guild, with work available at Playscripts, Next Stage, and Heartland. Several of my plays, including The Wizard Delivers..., are specifically written for high school-age actors, so all roles are age-appropriate. No gray hair spray required! The play has had an inaugural production which went very well, and I've just started submitting it to publishers.

If you or anyone else would like to take a peek, you can find me at my website or directly at markrigney671@gmail.com.

    All best!
