My K-8 school just asked if I had any plans or ideas to do something for BHM. They haven't ever done anything before I was told, and because it's the schools first time having a performing arts teacher here they thought maybe students could do something whether it in their specialist or a program towards the end of the month. Maybe even pulling out specific more likely to participate students.

I thought of reading simple poems, scenes, or song. I love the black national anthem and have always thought Juneteenth is nice to teach about now because we are on summer break on the actual holiday. It can be tough too because my class sizes are all super small and mostly boys who aren't always as corporative so I am less confident on my ability to put together something extra curricular like this. The school didn't have many specifics just said we should do something to celebrate black history month. I think it's a nice idea of course so wanted to crowd source here if people have done things and what they have had success in. Even something small and simple could be nice. and other staff at school said they'd participate to help too.
