If you want to join in our efforts to stand up and speak out up during TEC, here are some opportunities:
- Wear your Educate With Inclusion T-shirt Friday. If you purchased one with your registration, join EdTA in donning your shirts to set the tone for the event! Bonus: The Sarasota-based company that makes the shirts donates books to Florida schools with every purchase.
- Pick up literature from Equality Florida to learn what this organization is doing to protect LGBTQ rights in schools and how you can help.
- Patronize local LGBTQ-owned and black-owned businesses if you venture out of the resort.
- Write a letter to LGBTQ+ youth. Let them know they are loved and valued. EdTA is identifying an organization that will distribute our letters. We'll have a letter-writing station set up in the exhibit hall.
- Be open with one another about the challenges you're facing as educators, whether it's hostile legislation, censorship, or mental health. EdTA is YOUR professional community so take advantage of the moment to share hugs and friendly ears.
