Full time Theater teacher position opening!!
Anyone interested in a new Theater teaching job in West Michigan?? At the end of this school year I will be moving and leaving my beloved job at Rockford High School, in Rockford Michigan. This has been an amazing place to work with a supportive community and a full time theater gig. We run on trimesters, so out of 12 classes a year, 11 are typically theater classes. This community is growing, so the program has potential to grow as well. We currently do 3 main stage shows a year, and one black-box all freshman play.
We are hoping for candidates with a degree in theater and experience with educational theater. In Michigan theater is not a teachable degree, so this is difficult to come by. However, I have built a program that is accustom to collegiate level training, and I hope this rigor can continue. I hope a new person will bring their unique skills to the program, but just to give you an idea of what I've been doing - In my advanced classes I teach Stanislavsky and Chekhovian style psychoanalytical script analysis, as well as Laban movement and Anne Bogart's Viewpoints.
I have a great team. A wonderful TD who is a brilliant set designer, lighting designer, and budget master! Our music programs are strong, and we collaborate often. Also, our administration is very supportive! Its a wonderful job.
