Last fall, we opened a beautiful new theatre and our technical director of 30 years, having realized his dream, has decided to retire. We are finding it challenging to find a replacement with all the requisite skills. If any of you have suggestions about where we might look (we are a small, independent 7-12 day school on Cape Cod), I would love to hear from you. And if you know of someone specific, please pm me.
The position entails teaching a once a week stagecraft class and running after school programs for staging the three straight plays we do each year, plus a couple of concerts and some outside group performances, mostly speakers or musicians, throughout the year.
    Thanks!

Here's a few ideas of where to list your job posting:

I've actually had some luck from Craigslist in the past - post in the Gigs section, under Crew.

Indeed.com is also somewhere that I've seen theatre job postings.

Some other places that might have job postings are:

    Stagejobspro.com
    Offstagejobs.com
    Artsearch.us
    Theatrejobboard.sect.org/find-a-job/

    Schooltheatre.org/membership/memberbenefits/joblistings
    Jobsgalore.com
    Casting360.com

I can't vouch for any of those (well, except Schooltheatre.org of course!), but I've come across them from time to time.

    All the best!

We struggle with the same thing because we are not directly in Boston. Finding artists outside of Boston can be challenging. A few ideas...

    Post on hireculture.org
Post on the Facebook group Boston Theatre Freelance Group
Post on the Facebook group Boston Area Teaching Artists

You could also reach out <g class="gr_ gr_382 gr-alert gr_spell ContextualSpelling only-del replaceWithoutSep" id="382" data-gr-id="382">the the Emerson</g> College Theatre Education program because those students are always looking when they graduate.

Best of luck! Congratulations on your new space.

This might seem like a weird idea, but it's based on experience.

You may want to consider having your old TD help narrow down the list of candidates and then, once you have it down to three or four, sit in on the interviews. That way your old TD can discuss the job description and get into the  job requirements in techno-speak, as well as find out how much the candidates really know and whether they're really qualified. It can save a lot of headaches later.

If you've already thought of this, then let's just say I gave you a thumbs-up.  :-)
