    Hey All!
Looking for suggestions for our spring show, last year we did Seussical and it was a huge hit!

I'm looking for something with a strong sassy female lead to show off my Sour Kangaroo from last year.

I also have two solid men who can sing pretty much anything.

It should also have plenty of parts available for my very large ensemble. (30-40 or more).

Let me know if you have any awesome suggestions for my school!

    Thanks!

Legally Blonde immediately springs to mind. If you're okay with a strong female who isn't sassy I'd really look at Aida. It was such a fun show and the music is amazing

I LOVE LOVE LOVE Legally Blonde but I'm pretty sure my school would not approve of that because of the content!

Maybe Annie Get Your Gun ... or Anything Goes ?
Both have great lead female roles with several strong supporting roles .... there are a couple cringy ethnic character portrayals in both but I have done both in my small rural community and they went over really well and I think you could downplay the ethnic elements.

We did The Pajama Game last year,  and it was really fun. You have an unlimited number of factory members you can use.

Hello Dolly was also a huge hit! The more waiters, the better.

Also, Drowsy Chaperone and The Addams Family come to mind.

Once Upon a Mattress seems like the perfect fit.

We just cast for Mary Poppins. Mary can certainly be played sassy, though perhaps in a much more refined way than Sour Kangaroo. Bert and the Father need to be strong performers, and there more than enough for a large ensemble to do. Plus, there's nothing with the content that you have to worry about.

I saw Mary Poppins played as Sassy 2 years ago and it didn’t play well on the stage. Unfortunately it came across as sarcastic and snotty when done by a novice actor. It did not make for a like-able Mary.

Thanks for the suggestions all! My sour kangaroo from last year can play a variety of character type roles. I described her as sassy because I see her thriving in non wimpy princess roles. So villains like Ursula or strong female leads like Fiona are great possibilities for her!

I don't think we would be able to pull off the technical elements that Mary Poppins requires. And I love some of those older shows but I want to pick something my audience will recognize.

Right now some of my top picks are Little Mermaid, Shrek, Tarzan or Sister Act  (if the role of Deloris can be played by any ethnicity).

Any other thoughts or suggestions are welcome!
