I am looking for ideas for next years musical. It needs to be low budget, smallish cast (30-40) and family friendly with a fairly sparse set. Any ideas?

"Disaster!" was lots of fun and is specifically designed to be done on a budget of as much or as little as you have.

Dear Edwina. It allows for a flexible ensemble, easy set, and really fun music. We did the Junior version two years ago and my kids ate it up. Lots of featured moments and you really only need one strong male.

Urinetown is a great musical. It has a good core cast with many good roles, can hold a large chorus, the music is great, the set can be anything (it mostly needs imagination on the part of the audience), and the students love it. The title might give you pause but the show is about a town faced with having to use fire measures to save water.
