Weigh up what you want the Ed.S for, and whether the financial boost is going to be worth the cost of undertaking the degree. Our district recently eliminated the pay scale differential for any advanced degrees, for example, and offer just a one time bonus of $4,000 for the advanced qualification (and just for one advanced qualification, so for most people, getting the MA was all anyone is going to get minimally awarded for).
If you want to learn for the sake of learning, obviously pick something you're willing to have to give up much time to do well. What else could the Ed.S degree be used for? Is it conducive to multiple pathways or career possibilities? What specialism is there that would be geared toward theatre? Just some questions to try to help...

This may have been discussed in another thread, but I could not find it. I have been teaching for 12 years, the last 5 of those in a Drama classroom. I am considering an Ed.S.
