    Hello everyone
For our final production of the year we are doing The Hobbit.  It is student directed. The student is doing an amazing job. As we work on the piece we are having difficulty creating the illusion that Bilbo is invisible. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to work with the actors on creating that illusion. Exercises or general ideas are welcome!

    Thanks.

    Good Morning,

I suggest create all the blocking without Bilbo. Then add him in so that he is the one that is amiss and out of place. If the other actors stick to their blocking and maintain character, it should look amazing. We also play a game called green ghost. Two actors sit across from each other (about 3ft) and engage in dialogue. The third person tries to distract either actor by walking between, making noises, whispering. The key is that they cannot touch the other actors. Great for concentration.
