Good Friends,
I received excellent feedback from my students today regarding my transitions. Long story short - I don't lead very effective transitions between my warmup activity and my main lesson or rehearsal. Today I lead them through a deep, insightful warm-up. Typically, we would have sat in a circle, honored their feelings and the space we created and had time to fully digest what we experienced. However, I'm noticing with Zoom, I feel twice as rushed (my class only meets twice a week now, and trying to fit rehearsal in is very challenging). I'm also noticing that I'm less confident and a little more awkward as a person on Zoom (not sure if anyone else is experiencing this, but hey, I am : -). With Zoom students are on mute, I can't read body language, and students are less inclined to speak up. I tried some journal work but it felt very stale. If you have any suggestions on transition methods or what has been working with your groups, I would love to hear them.
Thanks
John Litten
