Rethink your use of PVC and Enamel paints (Krylon spray paint) that have VOC's. The 'V' stands for 'volatile', which usually means it is: A)
bad for the environment, and B)
very flammable. When PVC burns it creates a dense black smoke that is both toxic and obscures visibility to an egress path. Consider using wood dowels, stage paint, and fire retardant as a primer before painting.

Subject: painting pvc pipe...
Any tips or tricks in painting pvc pipe?
We are making a pretty large jail cell that will be "handled."
Want to make sure the paint doesn't rub off during the run.
Don't mind using sandpaper, but not keen on the acetone...
Thanks!
