  • 1.  Black history scene

    Looking for a meaningful  3-5 minute scene for a group of sixteen 8th and 9th grade students to perform in a black history program. They are also talented singers. Any thoughts?

    You might try to pull a scene from "Truth on Trial: The Ballad of Sojourner Truth". 

    Large cast, lots of poetry that is set to familiar tunes such as Auld Lang Syne.

    I've always been a fan of the 1987 production of Sarafina! It's a musical about a group of students reaction to the Apartheid in South Africa. It was also made into a film. I'll include some youtube links for context. Best of luck.

    I love this show! If only I could find the original soundtrack. I I have it on tape, but only the film version is available. There was a documentary about the making of it out there at one point, too.
