What is your favorite resource for renting or purchasing military and historical props and costumes? I need all WWI items for my show this year.

    Thanks!

I bought a lot of stuff from At The Front over the years.

If you have ROTC at your school, talk to them.  They may have items that will work that they could loan you.

In 2014, I wrote a play that takes place in a canteen in WWII.  We were incredibly lucky to have had someone retiring from the navy after a full career donate all of his uniforms except the dress uniform.  Using those and what ROTC loaned us, we were able to outfit every male student on stage.

Reach out to WWI re-enactment groups in your area. All re-enactors are protective of their kits and probably won't lend - but they love to talk about what they do and may put you on the trail of resources. There are also lots of antique dealers who specialize in militaria. Any way you slice it, it's going to be a pricey exercise if authenticity is your goal. Good luck! Post pictures!

I haven't used them personally but I would depending on what I was looking for.  When I inquired about prices and availability they were very helpful.

Thanks for the suggestions! Unfortunately, we're a small school, so there's no ROTC from which to pull. There is a military museum nearby, though, and lots of antique shops, so I'll look into those options.

Julie, I did NUMBER THE STARS several years ago, and I think it's such a wonderful script! I hope you enjoyed it.

I'm doing THE HELLO GIRLS, and I'm very excited about it! (even if the costumes will be expensive)
