  • 1.  Favorite Titles for a little Summer Reading

    Hello Theatre Colleagues,

I like to use the remaining pennies in my budget to order some scripts to keep me busy during the summer.  I'd love to hear some suggestions from y'all.  What are some new titles that you've discovered?
    I'm partial to farces.
To reciprocate...here are some titles that I read last summer that I enjoyed.

The Wheel, by Zinnie Harris (probably can't do it in high school, but great read)
Long Day's Journey Into Night, by Eugene O'Neill (never had read it before.)
Dracula, by Steven Dietz (loved this version)
Fox on the Fairway, by Ken Ludwig
    and
No Man's Land, by Pinter (Actually, I lied...I did not enjoy this play. Ha.)

Check out Dear Phoebe by Tom Taggart through Samuel French.  A colleague suggested it to me, and we had great success performing it.  It is a zany 50s-era farce with some melodramatic murders, gangsters, and cross-dressing.  Lots of fun!
