If any of your high school actors are looking for an excellent training opportunity this summer, JAM: Just Ask Marlene is offering a full scholarship for a student (ages 14-18) to perform off-Broadway with the National Theatre for Student Artists.

The winner will attend one of NTSA's three-week residential theatre training programs at Daemen College before performing in a NYC premiere musical at the Theatre at St. Peter's off-Broadway. Session 1 (June 15-July 7, 2018) will be performing Elliot Davis and James Bourne's pop-punk musical Loserville, while Session 2 (July 8-29, 2018) will be performing Paul Shapera's steampunk opera The Dolls of New Albion. NTSA students work with seasoned theatre professionals throughout the summer, prepping for their college auditions and beyond. Many of our alumni enroll at BFA programs at top-tier universities and conservatories like Carnegie Mellon University, Northwestern University, Emerson College, New York University, and Boston University, amongst many others. The scholarship is valued at $4,970 and includes full tuition, as well as on-campus accommodations and meal plan. (The student is responsible for providing her/his own transportation to and from the program.)

As part of the scholarship, the winner will also have the opportunity to film social media content for the JAM Instagram (which currently has 31.8K followers) about how to create a positive and inclusive social environment in high schools as part of their "No Bullying on Broadway" campaign.

    To be eligible, students must:
    • Be between ages 14-18 and have a GPA of at least 2.8
    • Submit a video of themselves singing one song in its entirety (any genre)
    • Submit a video of themselves explaining one thing that they do to prevent bullying in their school (ex. introducing themselves to new students, stopping gossip in its tracks, socializing with all different groups, complimenting others, etc.) - We're looking for students who exemplify kindness and inclusivity in their daily lives
You can find more information about the scholarship on JAM's website and more information about the summer program on NTSA's website. To apply, students should click "Just Ask Marlene (JAM)" for the question "How did you hear about NTSA?" on the NTSA application.
