    Hi Friends!

Does anyone happen to have the tent for Pippin that they would like to rent or sell?

What tent for Pippin? I've directed it three times, twice in a proscenium theatre and once outdoors in a natural setting, and neither times did I use or was there a necessity in the script for a tent.

When I directed it (in proscenium), we ran strings of Christmas lights from the ceiling over the audience to the stage to give the illusion of being under the "Big Top." We also draped back our aerial silks and added some other draped fabric, which helped as well.

The recent Broadway revival used a tent and made it very “circus” like! ♥️

When we did a production of Volpone, we decided to stage it in a circus-like setting. We hung panels of cloth, each of a different color, next to one another to form a slightly curved upstage "wall". This not only created the sense that we were in a tent, but it provided opportunities for characters to enter and exit between the panels.

We just closed Pippin in mid November and we did not use a tent. We strong lights from the proscenium center out over the audience. Onstage we used our teasers and furthest upstage traveler as our tent by pulling it back to give the feel of a stage. Our set carried more of the "circus" theme as well as some circus banners around the theatre. We have costumes if you are in need of those.
