I'm starting a unit on stage make-up for the first time and am having a hard time finding a good face template for the students to use for design ideas. Ideally, a few to choose from so everyone feels they have a template that is close to their gender, face shape and features. Does anyone have one (some) that they can share as a pdf file with me? Thank you!

There are many available online for different ethnic looks, they all seem to be with a stark white background.  You could color in the skin tone or do as one I saw which was a picture of the actual actor with no make up on and hair pulled back.  I'm going to try that one with my students.

What if part of the assignment was creating their own template, using their own face? An app like Colorscape lets you turn photos into coloring pages. They could take a selfie (or take photos of each other in class against a plain background), turn it into a coloring page, and have a completely personalized makeup template!

That’s an awesome idea. I was thinking of having them take pics of each other and then blowing them up and tracing on a light board, but this app sounds easier/better. I’ll check it out.

Please find attached a makeup worksheet from Shanker, Henry M. and Katharine Anne Ommanney. The Stage and The School, Glencoe/McGraw Hill, 1997.  It is pretty basic but might be helpful.
