Does anyone have any good materials/tips for doing accent work with students? I have found a ton of videos, but none that seem to be THAT helpful. We are doing RP British, Cockney, Russian, and Scottish for our show. I have not done a lot of accent work myself in the past. Anything helps!

    Thanks!

I am sure there are additional options to these, but some dialect resources I have used with students:

    David Alan Sternhttps://learnaccent.com/downloads/learning-accents/british-isles/ & https://learnaccent.com/product/acting-with-an-accent-russian/

    Jerry Blunthttps://www.dramaticpublishing.com/browse/books/stage-dialects#:~:text=Stage%20Dialects%20include%3A%20Japanese%2C%20Standard,%2C%20Italian%2C%20German%20and%20Russian.

    Hope this is helpful

I just recently purchased the 24-Accent "Pack" from: https://learnaccent.com/.
I've used his CD's in the past and they worked well so I bought the downloads.  Most are drills--about 90 minutes worth in total--that the class does together.  The students seem to like it!

The International Dialects of English Archive is a fantastic resource.  Here is the link https://www.dialectsarchive.com/

I'd highly recommend AccentHelp.com - it's a great resource and worth the investment!
Each accent purchased provides an in-depth explanation and many samples of the accent from folks living in those areas/countries in order to hear the variations of dialect. You also receive the audio files in MP3 format, along with a pdf of teaching resources. They also provide updates when more resources are added.
They have resources for the various accents you listed and there is a discount when you purchase several together.

In addition to directing high school students, I also teach voice and speech (including dialects) and coach productions for ECU here in Greenville, NC.
Let me know if there is anything I can do to help, and depending on your timeline, and if would be helpful, I may be able to Zoom into a rehearsal.
Alternatively, you may want to seek out someone local.  I find it so much easier for students to acquire dialects when the instruction is specific and customized.
