I haven't directed it, but saw it with my students when it was on Broadway and it was a RIOT! Specifically the nun!
The set they had wasn't particularly intense- just the interior of the cruise ship/had a roll on set for the cabin. When things were breaking, I believe it showed (Seth Rudesky's character, whose name escapes me) trying to balance on a beam with very dramatic music underscoring it. It was a delight and the music really was fantastic. People will leave singing the songs since they are mash ups of already familiar songs!
Great choice!

Starting looking at Disaster the Musical (MTI) for our spring production. Anyone done this show? It is pretty new.
Issues/Concerns?
Audience reaction?
We have a small/short stage. So height is a challenge. About 12 feet up and you are in the lights. More than 25 on stage makes it hard to move around.
any advice on this show would be appreciated.
